Work From Home Stuffing Envelopes: The Scam That Keeps On Giving

Since the 1997 the Work From Home Stuffing Envelopes Scam has been rearing it's ugly head and still continues to give people headaches and take their money.

The bottom line is if you're answering an ad in any paper or online web ad asking for money, turn and run away. Run far, far away!

You should never have to spend your own money to get a job unless it's a certificate or training you can transfer and take with you. Once in a while you might need a license like an insurance agent or real estate agent, but for the most part, no one should be asking you to spend money for a job.

Back to the envelopes - these scammers give you a lot of statistics, earnings charts and flattering figures of how much you can make with little effort. Some tell you they'll give you a $1 for every envelope others can go clear up to $5 per envelope. They will tell you they can afford it because if each person is putting a certain amount of money into their stuffed advertising ad, then of course they can afford this per person.

They rope you, make you believe and then follow up with "Just send me $10 bucks and I'll send you all the info you need." Then they mail you in snail mail form a list of out-of-business companies who may or may not have needed stuffed envelopes they've copied on a really bad copier.

The only legitimate stuffing envelopes businesses I've ever seen in my entire life is an envelope which comes in the mail filled with coupons targeted to a specific area. Those guys don't normally need a lot of help and it's known as Direct Mail Advertising.

But - it could be a great business for you to do on your own. A legitimate work from home stuffing envelopes business can actually work, but you have to be the owner and the salesman and the typesetter and the printer and the stuffer of envelopes.

Sorry to break the news but there are no free work from home stuffing envelope companies and no work from home stuffing envelopes no fees either for that matter. We'd like something remarkable like this to come along and save us from having to do real work, but the truth is no matter what you do to make money, there is nothing easy about it. Simple yes, but easy no.

But if you'd like to go it alone, there is a really good way to follow my friend's lead and take the envelope stuffing business bull by the horns.

A couple of years ago, my friend started going around to businesses asking if they'd like to put a 1/4 size coupon or flyer in an envelope for the community. Once per month she would mail out envelopes of 25-50 coupons/flyers to certain neighborhoods depending on the advertiser and what they wanted.

She divided the area into sections. People could purchase a section and she would make up the ad, print it out and stuff the envelopes. The client paid a certain price and she would earn money.

Since she targeted certain areas once a month, she could choose four areas - one per week and 25-50 advertisers who might want that area sent coupons. This gave her a weekly income, time to do set-up and billing.

She got a bulk mailing permit for the areas and there she had a lucrative business.

Most people like to call this a Direct Mail advertising company - but scammers like the Work From Home Stuffing Envelopes Free category.

Nothing's ever free when you're dealing with scam artists.

Although this could be a great job for a real go-getter - it does involve selling, graphics, a bit of cold calling and your supplies. If you can make up a sample, sell a few and then promise delivery in one month from the date of initial contract, you might be able to get by without your supplies up front.

But make sure you cover your expenses, figure out how much money you need to have each week to make a living and divide your figures between the amount of minimum advertisers you'd need to start. Then and only then will you have a good view of what it takes to work from home stuffing envelopes.

Suggestions for Direct Mail clients:

Churches and special events, restaurants, dry cleaning, new businesses (check with your City Hall under New Business Licenses), schools, government organizations, doctors, hardware stores.

Privately owned businesses rather than franchises are the best way to start out. Once you're established you might want to tackle the red tape of a bigger company. Small business owners will try to afford advertising with reasonable prices. Know you're minimum selling requirements so you can adjust your program to fit the client's needs.
