Adam Lambert, Diddy-Dirty Money, David Cook Coming Home To 'American Idol'
Good news for "American Idol" fans: Not only are "American Idol" Season 10 ratings up, they're climbing and they are above last year's ratings for comparable episodes. Even more good news: For Top 13 week, according to American Idol Net, the #1 show in America is bringing on some heavy hitters to keep those ratings up, mixing some old "Idol" -- Adam Lambert and David Cook -- with some new offerings, then topping it off with multi-platinum artist Diddy and his group Dirty Money.
Lambert is set to perform "Aftermath." The song has been remixed by Billboard and released as a single. Two other versions of "Aftermath" can be found on Lambert's EP "Acoustic Live!" and his album "For Your Entertainment, " which recently crossed the 800, 000 copies sold threshold. Lambert recently told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio program that "Aftermath" was a song he had written as an "empowerment anthem" and the song had an important message. Along with Adam Lambert, P. Diddy will also perform the latest single from his offering with the group Dirty Money. They are set to perform "Coming Home, " which features Skylar Grey. The song is the fourth single from the "Last Train To Paris" album and has already outperformed the three previous singles, peaking thus far at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Although it might be a dubious distinction, one (or perhaps two) of the Top 13 "American Idol" contestants will be the first to hear the new farewell song recorded by David Cook. Cook has a new album coming out sometime soon, but in the meantime and between new album song teasers, the Season 7 winner covered Simple Minds' "Don't You (Forget About Me)" for the show. Cook told his fans via Twitter a few weeks ago that he was working on something for "TPTB." Some thought "The Powers That Be" might be "American Idol" and their producers (also the guys in control of Cook's album contract). It was also speculated that the "something special" he was recording for March would be the new farewell song. Given this season's talent pool, it might be fair to say that the producers may have chosen the perfect farewell song. It is difficult seeing any of those in the Top 13 (and perhaps even the Top 24) not getting at least some sort of record deal out of their exposure on Season 10. As for the Top 13 themselves, they were given the option -- for the second consecutive week -- of singing whatever song they wish on the performance show. Odds are, those hearing David Cook's version of "Don't You (Forget About Me)" on Thursday night's results show is going to be Ashthon Jones or Haley Reinhart, but one can never tell with the voting public.
